Our Chassis was due for collection from MEV in Mansfield on Dec 10th, but with family members moving home, that was delayed until Dec 12th.

 

The chassis has now found its new home in our garage and the build team has been beavering away behind the scenes, in preparation for the build.

Beauty in the eye of the beholder

VMV MevTrying to visualise what the end product might look like on a kit build is more than a bit difficult. However, the task is a bit easier if you can fiddle with a digital image of the vehicle using Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro etc.

 

Taking a closer look at someone else's pride and joy may also help point you in the right direction.

 

Some of the colours turn out a but lurid, but you can get the general idea of what might be.

Choices come in the form of:-

 

1. What powder coat colours there are.

2. Over spraying a base colour on the chassis to get an enhanced colour or even metallic finish.

3. What panel colours show of the car the best?  (See Flickr contributor Phil Tonkin's ideas HERE..)

 

There are others of course.

 

 

 

Our own ideas are coming together, but its not as easy as you might think .

Keeping it simple with the factory chassis colour, and just varying the gel-coat panel colour, goes a long way to a tidy end product.

 

Aftermarket wheels/tyres, seats, steering wheels, seat belts, lights and other custom items, allow you to make a distinctive vehicle, totally unique.

Changing the base chassis colour, opens up a pandora's box of wild and racy colour schemes that you mind might consider as being "cool " or "brill".

 

Some definitely are "cool", some never will be, "get over it!"

Some Of The Important Considerations

Wheels

Too many spokes, not enough spokes, colour, size, etc. etc. any of these can destroy the overall look.

 

HEADLIGHTS

Are Black shells best? Might chrome work just as well in the final design. Cost will also influence decisions.

 

SEATS

Colours and fittings, need to blend in with the overall scheme of things. Seatbelt colour is important too
